I recently learned about a very simple idea. Astronauts talk about the “orbital perspective” they gain when they travel into space. A view of the world that is pure beauty, enormity. Gone are the borders and boundaries, the politics, individual cultures and all the other man-made boundaries, the built-in differences.
What remains is one globe. One beautiful spherical planet. One place where we ALL live together. Where we can see our shared humanity. How similar we are at the core.
This to me, is the healthiest way to think about our world and I wish more people would think in those terms.
